How do I make my at-home blowout frizz-free in the summer?
Something key to remember is that the environment in which you blowdry your hair has a large impact on how your hair will react to heat styling. It’s advisable to blowdry your hair in a dry environment, i.e. not the bathroom you just steamed up with your shower! Next, make sure your hair is actually completely dry when you have completed the blowout. Any damp areas are likely to react to the air temperatures around you, which seldom results in smooth strands. Always finish hair with an anti-humidity spray, such as Oribe Imperméable Anti-humidity Spray ($44, at Donato Salon & Spa), which utilizes copolymer technology to shield hair from the impact of humidity, and also contains a UV filter to protect hair. -

I recently began colouring my hair and I think my usual shampoo and conditioner may be stripping my hair. What should I look for when replacing my go-to products?
Colouring your hair, whether it’s highlights a few times a year or a complete dye job every month, will impact the health of your hair. If you’ve just parlayed into the world of hair colour, you will probably want to look into a more hydrating shampoo and conditioner. In regards to hair colour fading or stripping due to your usual hair products, that’s very possible, especially if the formulas include sodium laurel sulfate, which is a soap agent that gives us the foaming action we so desire when washing hair, but also has a tendency to make hait feel straw-like! An award-winning duo like Pureology Limited Edition Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner ($59 for both, pureology.com) is a safe bet for colour-treated hair that’s a bit shell-shocked from dyes. From each duo sold, $2.60 will be donated to Smart Water for Green Schools in association with Green Cross International to provide clean water to children in communities in Ghana. -
Beauty Fix: A cool trick (literally!) for getting rid of undereye puffiness and more answers to your beauty questions
Every week we take on your questions about makeup, skincare, hair and more and provide all the answers. This week we offer two fixes for tired eyes: one tip will ensure your undereye puffiness is no more and the other works like a charm to brighten dull eyes. And while we advocate for wearing SPF year-round, with spring just a few weeks away it’s more important that ever to add some sunscreen into your beauty routine. We suggest one product that even oily-skinned girls won’t shy away from. Have a question we haven’t answered? Email us at beautyfix@fashionmagazine.com.

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013 backstage beauty: A feminine face with “almost masculine” brows at Isabel Marant
See the full backstage beauty gallery from Isabel Marant Fall 2013 »
Makeup inspiration at Isabel Marant Fall 2013:
“I wanted to create a makeup look that was both feminist and boyish. The focus is on the brows, which are effortless but controlled—full, with volume, almost masculine. Makeup on the face is very light, very sheer, like a veil, while the lips are simple, natural and nude.” – Tom Pecheux, creative makeup director for Estée LauderGet the look:
– Models’ faces were prepped with a cocktail of anti-aging serums and creams, including Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Crème and Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex. These helped to smooth out the surface of the skin and added a much-needed dose of hydration. Skin was then kept fresh and clean with just a sheer layer of Estée Lauder foundation and concealer where needed. -

gift ideas for women »Somehow, shopping for the leading ladies in our lives often proves to be the hardest. The challenge for Christmas gift ideas is to be creative, on trend, and meaningful—not the easiest task, but a necessary one. If you’re shopping for your girlfriend, wife, sister or mother, it’s essential to make the gift matter and worth every penny spent.
For Christmas 2012, we’ve dreamt of all things lavish and luxe that can double as a satisfaction to a women’s fashion craving as well as functional piece in her every day life and they are anything but traditional. We know that diamonds have been declared a girl’s best friend, but this year we’re thinking outside of the little blue box and selecting gifts that show creativity. We’ve opted for lush fur pieces that will keep her warm all winter, geometric shaped cuffs that will reinvent the arm party, and even a onsesie that just begs to be taken to a ski resort. These are the pieces that will win a woman’s heart.

See what’s inside Aerin Lauder’s makeup bag »
For anyone who’s ever wondered what it’s like inside a beauty dynasty, this one’s for you. Today, we present the makeup bag (and it’s belongings!) of none other than beauty mogul Aerin Lauder. Runway to Real Life: 5 easy steps to get Louis Vuitton’s lash-tastic Spring 2012 look at home!
Rumour has it that when makeup artist Pat McGrath set out to create her “living doll” look for Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2012 show, she and her team pulled an all-nighter (at the Ritz, of course!) to glue together 10 sets of false lashes for each model. When the show opened with models perched on a revolving carousel in candy-coloured frocks, their flawless makeup and dense, fluttery lashes momentarily created the illusion that mannequins were instead the stars.
Despite its high maintenance appearance, it’s really simple to recreate this Barbie-esque beauty look. And forget 10 sets of falsies—you can pull it off with just five products in the bat of an eyelash!
