Holt Renfrew celebrates 175 years with specially-designed pieces from Christian Louboutin, Bobbi Brown, Michael Kors and a special appearance by Elton John!
See all the anniversary pieces! »
We might as well pitch a tent and set up camp outside Holt Renfrew’s sleek Bloor Street entrance, because come September, it will be the place to be. Not only is Holt’s taking part in Fashion’s Night Out festivities September 6 (stay tuned for details!), but the store is also ringing in it’s monumental 175th birthday. In true Holt’s fashion, the Hot @175 anniversary will be rung in in style, with a slew of designer collaborations for sale in (what else?) signature magenta.
From its start in 1837 as a hat and cap shop in Quebec City to the go-to luxury mecca it is today, Holt’s has undeniably had a starring role in Canada’s retail legacy. To fête the occasion, everything from high-fashion designs like Christian Louboutin’s magenta-platform sling backs to fun finds like Pantone’s “Holt Renfrew Magenta” notebook will prove that even at 175, Holt’s still has it.

Get the Look: 10 stunning lacy picks à la Stella McCartney that will take you from summer to fall for under $150
Photography by Gregg DeGuire/WireImage It’s that time of year again—fall fashion has started to hit store shelves, but 30-degree days are way too hot for flannel and faux fur. To all you style mavens who have found yourself in fashion purgatory, fear not, the lace trend takes you from summer to fall with style to spare. This weekend, Jaime King and Emmy Rossum rocked the lacy trend at the 2012 Television Critics Association’s Summer Party. King paired her Stella McCartney Fall 2012 ensemble with Kate Spade accessories, and Rossum went sophisticate in a Zuhair Murad sheath. Both actresses showed lots of summer-appropriate bronzed skin, but the embellished frocks hit all the right fall style notes. We’d throw a blazer on top of Rossum’s ladylike dress, and pair King’s above-the-knee number with opaque tights and killer ankle boots to accommodate those cooler Canadian temperatures.

Brad Goreski on growing up gay, his biggest fashion faux pas and the end of Fashion Television
Since breaking into the public eye as Rachel Zoe’s quick-witted (and incredibly patient) styling assistant, Brad Goreski has built an empire of sorts. The Canadian export has his own Bravo TV series It’s a Brad, Brad World, an A-list clientele including Jessica Alba, and is the exclusive stylist to Kate Spade. Most recently, Goreski wrote a candid, self-effacing memoir called Born to Be Brad, in which he details his progression from a high school outsider in Port Perry, Ontario to a fashion insider warming the front row seats at Fashion Week. We chatted with the stylist when he was at Brooks Brothers in Toronto to promote his new book, Born to be Brad, (with Heather Marks, to boot!) about everything from Bono sunglasses to shaggy fur to Japanese house slippers:

TIFF partysphere: Jessica Chastain and a very pregnant Bryce Dallas Howard toast Kate Spade with pink champagne
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard shot by Alexandria Wyman/Getty Images The biggest night of TIFF partying began with a small, graceful affair. Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress-come-producer of Restless, hosted a Harbord Room soiree in proper—very proper—Kate Spade style. Majorly pregnant, she floated cloud-like in a custom light blue chambray dress, while guests slurped oysters and pink champagne. She wasn’t the only star redhead, either: Jessica Chastain was there in a bronze Derek Lam dress. And I had the pleasure of talking about Raymond Carver and LA with Restless screenwriter Jason Lew while my Globe Style girls Maggie Wrobel and Tiyana Grulovic ate more beignets. At the end, we left with clever spade logo’d matchbooks and Kate Spade patent-croc satchels—literally, a swag bag.
