Fashion news: Carine’s Balenciaga blacklist explained, flying cats at Westwood and Lagerfeld’s French honours
Someone threw a (fake) cat at Vivienne Westwood at her show yesterday. It narrowly grazed her shoulder however and a model simply picked it up and cuddled with it. Only at Westwood. [Nylon]The (supposed) truth comes out: last week Carine Roitfeld was a no-show at Balenciaga, claiming that she was “blacklisted” from the show. Details have emerged that the french Vogue editor had asked the Balenciaga house for samples for a shoot, and once received, a coat somehow made it’s way to MaxMara’s design studio, where it was copied. And that was the end of Roitfeld and the Paris Vogue entourage. [Fashionista]
Lindsay Lohan was back in the fashion week scene after being MIA at Ungaro yesterday, sitting front and centre at Kenzo yesterday. When WWD asked the actress why she was not at the Ungaro show, she replied “Because I don’t work for them anymore.” When pushed for more details Lilo told reporters that “There’s legal things going on; I can’t really discuss it.” [The Cut]

Fashion news: LiLo is a no-show at Ungaro, Gareth Pugh won’t be taking over McQueen, Payless beauty, and more
Lindsay Lohan was a no-show this morning at the Ungaro show in Paris. The details are still hazy but we’re gulping down the juicy gossip: WWD has reported that Lilo does still hold the title of artistic director, while chairman Asim Abdullah reported backstage that she was not involved in the Fall 2010 collection. To be continued. [Telegraph]
We don’t discuss the federal budget too much here on FASHION Diaries. In fact, this is probably a first: The 2010 budget, announced Friday by finance minister Jim Flaherty, includes the elimination of import duties—that had sometimes been up to 14 per cent—on raw materials used to manufacture apparel. [@NOWLifestyle]
Rumours of Gareth Pugh taking on the role of Creative Director at Alexander McQueen can be put to rest. A statement from the designer’s PR said this morning, “Further to speculative reports, Gareth Pugh is not in discussions with Gucci Group about a creative director role at Alexander McQueen.” [Vogue UK]

Dispatches from Milan: A kerfuffle at Cavalli, ’70s glam at Gucci, bell bottoms at Pucci and more
Okay, while there’s a big kerfuffle going on at Roberto Cavalli (I ‘m hearing it’s over Lindsay Lohan, and Courtney Love) let me take a minute and think way back to see if I can possibly absorb all I’ve seen today and yesterday. Since I last blogged, I’ve been to showrooms, presentations and shows too numerous to list. Here are some highlights:

Fashion news: Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga for M.A.C, Marc Jacobs sues Ed Hardy, and Lancôme hires a YouTube star
Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are the next faces of M.A.C’s Viva Glam. “People think if you’re strong about your sexuality, you must have a d–k,” Gaga told WWD. “And that’s what this is about. You can be strong about your sexuality and be a smart woman who wears lipstick and high heels and looks pretty.” [WWD]
Marc Jacobs is suing Christian Audigier’s line Ed Hardy for allegedly knocking off one of his handbags. Jacobs’ legal reps state that any infringement “has been intentional and wil[l]ful, calculated specifically to trade off the goodwill that plaintiffs have developed in their successful Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon tote bags.” [Vogue UK]

Fashion news: Lohan accused of ripping off designers, the Obamas are unwitting models and Karl shoots for V’s size issue
Some of the items in Lindsay Lohan’s 6126 clothing line look rather familiar to a couple of designers. Black Milk Clothing’s James Lillis and designer Jen Kao both say Lohan copied their designs. The company disputes this, naturally. [WWD]
But wait! It is apparently LiLo who’s had her designs lifted. [Stylecaster]
A NY Times report surfaced yesterday that H&M in New York’s Herald Square had been mutilating and dumping unsold clothing. H&M responded, saying “We are committed 100 percent to make sure this practice is not happening anywhere else, as it is not our standard practice.” It’s worth noting that H&M is listed as a donor to Windfall, a Canadian new clothing bank. Ungaro CEO resigns–how much longer can Lindsay Lohan last?
Lindsay Lohan’s greatest, and perhaps only, fashion supporter, Emanuel Ungaro CEO Mounir Moufarrige, has resigned from his post at the house. Lohan is staying on, though who knows for how long:

You can shop LiLo’s closet. But do you want to?
Now you can shop in the Lohan family closet right from the comfort of your computer. With plenty of spelling and grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the Goodwill pile on offer at lohanhouse.com, the site is a shopping nightmare. We can barely understand why anyone would want LiLo’s smelly old Converse (they sold!), let alone Michael […]

Fashion news: Karl’s new mag, Choo shenanigans in Shanghai and some rumours dispelled
The Daily Beast compiled a list of the 10 most valuable models. If the suspense is killing you, Gisele is number one, followed by Christy Turlington (7), Kate Moss (2) and the usual suspects. We’d argue that Daria (5) is hardly an “up-and-comer” though, so you can probably take this all with a grain of salt. [Daily Beast]
Karl Lagerfeld is launching a Chanel magazine called 31 Rue Cambon with Purple’s Olivier Zahm heading up art direction. [The Cut]

Fashion news: Zero doing mens, LiLo doing Bebe and smell like dead-celeb DNA

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a jewellery collection called The Protector for Asprey. The line features snake-themed necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in gold and silver. The snake coil jewellery was inspired by a ring worn by Jolie while pregnant with Shiloh that’s since become a symbol of protection to the couple. Profits will go to the couple’s charity of choice, Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. [WWD]

Jonny Johansson, the founder of Acne, has said he would like his label to be recognized for more than their slim fitting jeans. The brand is also home to a full clothing line as well as a magazine Johansson started called Acne Paper. This collective began with Johansson’s past dabbling in furniture design, music and fashion—with the full name of Ambition to Create Novel Expressions an indicator of the far-reaching creative abilities of the man behind the jeans company. A collaboration with Alber Elbaz has taken Acne into a luxury standard and higher price point—giving the company its much-deserved appreciation in the design community and building its rep. Fashion news: McQueen v. Madden, Miu Miu wants all the attention and, oh dear, Shoe-Han
Alexander McQueen is taking Steve Madden to court; the designer is being sued for allegedly copying the Faithful bootie. McQueen’s attempt to halt production of the shoe with a cease and desist order was greeted with refusal from Madden. What can we say–imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? [The Cut]
Miu Miu wants to be the centre of attention. At least in stores carrying the designer label’s bags. The brand has recently pulled out of several U.S. department stores—the company wanted their merchandise to be displayed on its own, while many stores mixed the purses with other designers. [WSJ]
