What’s in your bag, Natasha Koifman?
Photography by Erin Seaman Today, we’re going inside the bag belonging to another of Canada’s PR power players: Natasha Koifman. President of her namesake firm, NKPR, Koifman heads up a team of 30 to work on blockbuster accounts like Stila, Essie, Kiehl’s and RACHEL Rachel Roy as well as one of the favourite gifting lounges during the Toronto International Film Festival, the IT Lounge. She’s been featured on The Coveteur and she’s also been known to host some pretty bangin’ parties at her beautiful North Toronto home. For that, we’d like to give her an everlasting shout out.

After eight hours on the beat, dissecting trends and trying to dodge the post-show crush, I’ve compiled a set of fashion crib notes just for you.

Spring beauty report 2012: Slippery slope

It was sink or swim backstage, where wet hair and glistening skin were major beauty themes to surface this season. At Bottega Veneta and Diesel, Guido Palau crafted dripping chignons and misty ponytails. At Alexander Wang, models looked like they had just hopped out of the shower. The sopping effect wasn’t achieved with H2O but with argan hair treatment “until you really get it looking wet,” says Palau. Super-hydrated skin with a healthy sheen was reminiscent of an Olympian post-workout, or in the case of Missoni, a girl who had been up all night flamenco dancing—the models’ dewy complexions achieved through artful placement of metallic cream shadow. That shine could also result from plenty of Botox, according to makeup artist Val Garland, who simulated that supernatural skin for Giambattista Valli by strategically applying a pink-gold pigment on the planes of the face.

They said/We said: Linda Evangelista’s asking for $46,000 a month in child support
Photography by Amy Sussman/Stringer Canadian-born supermodel Linda Evangelista once said she’d never wake up for less than $10,000 a day. Now, she’s asking for $46,000 a month—in child support. The father of Evangelista’s four-year-old son, Augustin, is François-Henri Pinault, the CEO of the luxury conglomerate PPR, which owns Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta. His family is worth an estimated $11.5 billion, while Evangelista is worth about $8 million.
How can Evangelista justify demanding such a large sum? While Pinault and his wife, Salma Hayek, have a daughter, Valentina, on whom Pinault spends about $50,000 a month for a $12-million estate held in trust in her name, he hasn’t paid Evangelista any support for Augustin.
Each year, $80,000 of Evangelista’s child support would go towards 24-hour nannies and $175,000 would go towards former police-detective drivers. New York Support Magistrate Matthew Troy was sympathetic to both the nanny and driver costs, but immediately nixed the $7,500 Evangelista was seeking for monthly vacation expenses.
Now, we wait for the verdict. Will Evangelista win as Pinault fights to keep as much of his fortune as possible? Either way, it looks like it’s going to cost the fashionable CEO a pretty penny.
