Fashion by Age: 59 ways to wear florals in your twenties, thirties and beyond
Or see fashion by age: IN YOUR 20s | IN YOUR 30s| IN YOUR 40s | IN YOUR 50s | IN YOUR 60s | IN YOUR 70s
How important is it to dress age appropriately? This is a question that, when asked, will generate a variety of different answers. Fashion by age is hardly a new phenomenon, but the contrast between what is or is not appropriate for certain ages has changed overtime. There may be some styles that are thought to be more suited to one age over another, but as we all know by now, fashion is never that black and white.
Keeping that in mind, check out our selection of the best spring pieces that work for a variety of different ages. From bright printed pants to classic blazers, these beautiful bouquet pieces can work for any age.

Exclusive: J.Crew debuts two short films that tell the stories of how two of its iconic pieces are made
By Monique Loveless
J.Crew has hit the tube! YouTube, that is. In the brand’s first foray into film, we’re transported to Italy, where many of its It items are created.
For the ladies, “Shiny Ponies” lets us into the world of J.Crew’s Etta shoes. Featuring creative director Jenna Lyons, who owns an estimated 289 pairs of shoes, though she confesses she hasn’t worn all of them. The short film gives a behind the scene look at the design process, the factory in Pisa, Italy, and shows the importance of every step in creating each shoe. After all, you don’t have to be Carrie Bradshaw to appreciate this love letter to such covetable shoes.

New York Fashion Week: Embellishment reigns supreme at Rodarte, Narciso Rodriguez, Jenny Packham and Tory Burch for Fall 2013
See our favourite detail shots from Rodarte Fall 2013 »
New York Fashion Week is full of sparkling moments, and any magpie worth her shiny nest knows how to spot them. Take Tory Burch’s Fall 2013 show, held in one of the opulent salons at The Pierre Hotel. Crystal chandeliers, gilded sconces and the plushest of carpets made for a very luxe start to the day. Over at J. Crew, Julianne Moore, looking oh-so-radiant sans makeup and sporting an effortlessly cool topknot, seemed to leave a trail of stardust as she glided through the room. The star power continued over at Dennis Basso’s 30th anniversary show with a double dose of Joan (Rivers and Collins). And judging by the rest of the well-heeled attendees, the 3F’s–furs, fine jewels and facelifts–were out in full force to celebrate this luxury brand’s milestone. At Rodarte, swirls of kaleidoscopic colour updated the go-to summer staple–the maxi dress–but it was the illuminated set, inspired by the Santa Cruz boardwalk, where the Mulleavy sisters grew up, that shone like a beacon when the lights went down. Want to turn up the flash factor in your closet? Fall 2013’s runway collections are filled with glittering looks and decorative details. Here are 5 fresh ways to wear embellishment:

Beyoncé on Inauguration Day: Queen Bey stuns in a Pucci dress, Christian Dior coat and Lorraine Schwartz emeralds
See Beyoncé’s Inauguration Day dress and jewels up-close »
It’s Inauguration Day for Barack Obama and our American friends across the border today and with that pomp, ceremony and history making underway, we’ve got our eyes peeled for the important things. As ever, Michelle Obama made yet another A+ statement, wearing a blue checked Thom Browne coat, J.Crew belt, gloves and shoes (later she changed into an amazing pair of custom Reed Krakoff boots). Those brand new blunt bangs were once again in focus, and surer than ever to spark a few years of copycat cuts. Free of the red and blue dress code, Malia and Sasha Obama made fashion statements of their own, in pink J.Crew and purple Kate Spade coats respectively.

Vaughan Mills announces expansion plans for 2013 including 50 new stores
Hot on the heels of Yorkdale Shopping Centre’s recent expansion, Vaughan Mills mall will reportedly undergo an $87-million redevelopment and expansion project later this year. The project is expected to add approximately 50 new retailers and 150,000 sq ft in floor area to accommodate them. This will result in a total of 250 stores and 1.1 million sq ft of shopping madness.
This is exciting news for the Vaughan Mills Mall, which continues to grow as a major shopping destination. Known for housing popular outlets such as Holt Renfrew Last Call and the Michael Kors Outlet, the mall has also recently added stores like Calvin Klein, J Crew Factory, and the UGG Australia Outlet. A list of the new stores that will come as a result of this expansion is not yet available, but further details will likely be announced in the spring or summer.

What’s in your bag, Cupcakes and Cashmere blogger Emily Schuman?
See what Cupcakes and Cashmere’s Emily Schuman keeps in her purse »
Emily Schuman’s blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, is true to its title: her posts are comforting (like delicious dinner party recipes), friendly (so many style and decor tips!) and full of sparkle and shine. In real life, Emily Shuman is just as poised as the content she posts—which is likely one of the reasons she’s been able to turn her blog into a full-time career. While Cupcakes and Cashmere is based out of Los Angeles, Schuman was recently in Toronto to promote her first book, which is an extension of the blog. Holt Renfrew hosted a Cupcakes and Cashmere book signing celebration and we got the chance to sneak a peek inside Schuman’s Prada purse. While there were no cupcakes inside, we did find a macaroon-shaped container, a pair of Chanel ballet flats and a perfect assortment of pink items. Ready to explore? Read on!

Blush Hour: We rethink pink with our Winter Issue photo shoot inspired by one of the season’s most unexpected trends
View the Blush Hour photo shoot »
See this trend within our Fall/Winter 2012 trends guide »It’s time to rethink pink. No longer just a little girl hue, pastel pink has become one of Fall/Winter 2012’s most important and unexpected trends. Best done by Raf Simons with his farewell collection for Jil Sander, the shade has been popping up everywhere, from the red carpet to the front cover of our current issue starring Coco Rocha. In this photo shoot from our Winter Issue, we take pink for a ride on model Madelen de la Motte with mannish coats, sculpted leathers and more. Looks like fashion’s most innocent pastel shade has adopted a grown-up attitude.

Beauty Visionary: Meet the woman behind J.Crew’s bright lips and mussed hair
We love the bright lips and mussed hair on J.Crew models. Kari Molvar meets the woman driving the brand’s beauty direction.
See what has influenced J.Crew’s look »
See Gayle Spannaus’ favourite lipsticks used at J.Crew »J.Crew has launched many obsessions over the years: cashmere V-necks, brightly coloured capris and novelty ballet flats. But the fashion retailer, which began as a catalogue-only business in the eighties, has also been not so quietly causing a beauty revolution. Flip open the catalogues, or “Style Guides” as they’re now known, and you’ll find models with electro-pop lips, windblown hair and brushed-up brows, a signature look that went over well when the brand officially presented at New York Fashion Week for the first time with its Spring 2012 collection. Collaborations with indie makeup brands Face Stockholm and Lipstick Queen have led to sold-out collections of lipstick and nail polish (not even eBay-able anymore!), and beauty boldfaces such as Linda Rodin (she of the cult face oil Rodin Olio Lusso) star in the company’s latest ad campaign. All of which is to say: J.Crew is on a big beauty roll.

The 100-year anniversary of the Grey Cup will be heading to Toronto to host the final game of the CFL’s season and hometown team, the Toronto Argonauts, will be facing the Calgary Stampeders. While the two cities mayors may be placing bets on the winning team, we’re thinking about what to wear when watching.
