View all of our Christmas
gift ideas for women »Somehow, shopping for the leading ladies in our lives often proves to be the hardest. The challenge for Christmas gift ideas is to be creative, on trend, and meaningful—not the easiest task, but a necessary one. If you’re shopping for your girlfriend, wife, sister or mother, it’s essential to make the gift matter and worth every penny spent.
For Christmas 2012, we’ve dreamt of all things lavish and luxe that can double as a satisfaction to a women’s fashion craving as well as functional piece in her every day life and they are anything but traditional. We know that diamonds have been declared a girl’s best friend, but this year we’re thinking outside of the little blue box and selecting gifts that show creativity. We’ve opted for lush fur pieces that will keep her warm all winter, geometric shaped cuffs that will reinvent the arm party, and even a onsesie that just begs to be taken to a ski resort. These are the pieces that will win a woman’s heart.

Top 10 Fashion Trends, Spring 2013: We distill over a month of runway and street style photos into 100 of the season’s strongest moments
See the biggest Spring 2013 fashion trends »
See all of our fashion month coverage »It’s official, Spring 2013 fashion month is over. And after receiving a daily dose of street style photos and runway updates, it would be silly for us to ignore the trends that we saw day after day (after day, after day). It’s hard not to fall victim to sensory overload, but thankfully our street style photographer, Stefania Yarhi, made it easy for us to pick and choose which trends we know we’ll be seeing all spring long. With hundreds of photos from Paris, Milan, London, New York, and Toronto at our disposal, we just couldn’t ignore the countless graphic tops (a day without a Balenciaga sci-fi sweater sighting was a total shocker), exposed bellies, suits, and mixed prints—so we didn’t because we’re positive they will be huge come Spring 2013. We’ve selected 10 of the biggest fashion trends from the streets and the runways and put them together in one place, so gets to clickin’. The leaves may just be starting to fall, but it’s never too early to plan for spring, right? (RIGHT!)

Inside Toronto’s newest J.Crew: The full details on the brand’s new unisex Eaton Centre outpost
Check out the photos of J.Crew Eaton Centre
For the first time in Toronto, men can shop at J.Crew. After the exclusion of the men’s line (much to shoppers dismay) at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the newest J.Crew outpost in the Toronto Eaton Centre features all that the company has to offer.
The iconic American brand has settled in to a 9,000 square foot space in the on the third floor (formerly Bebe), and has filled the space with blonde hardwood and knick-knacks. Mannequins dressed in multi-layered outfits (think preppy collars poking out from underneath brightly-hued cashmere sweaters, crossbody bags and jeweled necklaces slung with ease) showcase what J.Crew does best.

The Weekend To-Do: We’re celebrating Thanksgiving by shopping, fashion show-going and drinking Alexander Keith’s beer
Traditionally this weekend has always been about the turkey dinner and the turkey drop (may you not be on the receiving end). Beware the tryptophan-induced food coma because this long weekend there are plenty of fashionable, non-turkey related things to get up to: shopping sprees at the mall, runway shows in the prairies and the birthday of a beer baron.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Why J.Crew can do no wrong, plus our top 5 picks from yesterday’s shows
It was a whirlwind day of running between shows and showrooms, but I’ve managed to suss out five of the best offerings of the day, beginning with the most unexpected one from Oscar de la Renta. From a man known for glamorous gowns and ladylike day-wear, it was a surprise to see Karlie Kloss open the show in a latex top and skin-tight pencil skirt. Clearly courting a younger contingent, uncharacteristically punky coloured streaks were added to wispy beehives and billowy shorts suits were on offer for evening. Is Oscar abandoning his core clientele? I seriously doubt it, but it’s always refreshing to see a designer throw us a curveball and stretch his style beyond the expected.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Victoria Beckham, Jenna Lyons and the Courtin-Clarins girls
Check out the street style photos from New York Fashion Week!»
Next up in our street style coverage of New York Fashion Week, our resident street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured more of the fashion flock from outside the shows on Sunday. Yarhi’s savvy camera skills caught the likes of Victoria Beckham (who chatted with us back in August), outside after her Spring 2013 show who looked as chic as ever in all black shorts, T-shirt (likely of her own design) and sunglasses. Also snapped: the enviously impeccable Courtin-Clarins girls looking as chic as ever with Claire wearing a black and burgundy long-sleeved dress, Prisca in a white dress, Virginie in a black shirt, and long blue and white striped skirt, and Jenna in a long sleeved printed dress on the streets of New York. J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons looked quite serious while taking a call, wearing a slick grey blazer and white pants. Model Erin Wasson who seemed to be in a hurry, was snapped in a grey button up and holding a furry (real or fake?) purse.

Big calves? No problem! 10 slick fall boot picks that don’t discriminate
If you have a larger calf, it can be daunting to find on-trend quality knee boots that actually fit. We loved all the colours and textures we saw in the September issues, and we think that a larger calf shouldn’t relegate you to ankle boots when the cooler temperatures hit—particularly since tall boots are a big trend this fall. We did some legwork (pun intended), and rounded up stylish boot options that accommodate women with calves that are 15 inches or thicker. From jewel tones to textures and embossed skins, we’ve got ten stylish picks for all you ladies with larger legs.
