It was another doozy of a night at the Grey Goose Soho House last night, with TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs upon TIFF celebs showing up en masse to toast their various premieres, presentations and pals. As the official after party spot for Anna Karenina, Soho House’s first megawatt guest was Keira Knightley. Flawless in a black sheer lace-y floor-length Elie Saab gown, it was said that her every move was swanlike, and we believe it. Co-stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (alongside his May-December love, director and photographer Sam Taylor-Wood) channelled their period costumes, both wearing three-piece suits. Though there isn’t photo evidence of Matthew MacFayden’s wears, we’ll have an imaginary vision of him in period-inspired attire as well. We’ll also imagine his Mr. Darcy coif intact.

As a pre-cursor to TIFF, the Venice Film Festival can sometimes be seen as a rival to our Canadian red carpet extravaganza. Luckily though, the Italian festival has given us a glamorous preview of what to look forward to style-wise from the celebrities that are expected to hit our fair city later this week. In past years at TIFF, stars have been know to dress down for their big premieres, rather than go full-out glamour as they have this year at Cannes and now in Venice. But don’t fret, we can still expect to see all of our favourite designers showcased on and off the red carpet this year. Stay tuned, as we’ll be updating the latest looks from Venice as they come in.

Celebspotters, you’re in for another doozy of a year with a knockout A list of Hollywood heavyweights hitting Toronto for this year’s edition of TIFF. It’s that time again. Toronto has rolled out the red carpet for an army of A-listers, all flocking to TIFF looking their most flashbulb-friendly. Sure, everybody has a “good side” in photographs, but no one works their angles (or, wrecks their angles, depending on who you ask) quite like a VIP.

Couture-clad celebutantes poised in the same goofy positions, doing the same silly faces, and looking all-around stupid for the paparazzi’s pleasure. So, which repellent poses take the cake? Just announced, rom-com queen Kate Hudson will be the new face of Almay. Her role with the fancy title of “global brand ambassador,” will include involvement with charity events and ad campaigns, which hit print and TV later this year.

Hairstylist David Babaii is a man of his word. Even though he called me two hours late, I wasn’t ruffled in the least. In fact, I was amazed he called at all, what with all his jetsetting to tend to the coifs of Kate Hudson, Angelina Jolie (he did her hair for the Oscars), Gwyneth Paltrow and others. But he apologizes nonetheless, explaining that he’s on set with Scarlett Johansson and has the “worst cell reception” but that it’s still no excuse. Such courtesy and respect for an editor—no wonder the A-listers keep him around. Oh right, lest we forget the amazing manes he crafts, especially for Kate, who I assume is his number one girl—they created a hair line, David Babaii for Wildaid together, after all.
