This just in… Target set to open in full force in Canada in early 2013 (and by full, we mean full)
Bullseye fans rejoice! Not only is Target coming to Canada, they’re practically sending in the troops! Early this morning at a press conference in Chicago, we learned that the mass retailer has already selected 105 Zellers sites in all 10 provinces, the majority of which will become Target stores. And that’s not just it… over 100 more are to be selected in the coming months. Beginning in early 2013, between 100 and 150 stores will be opening throughout the year.

FASHION plates: Gone tribal
By Randi Bergman and Jordan Porter
The seemingly never-ending delay to summer has us day dreaming of a getaway to the most exotically out-of-the-way locales. We want to feel the warmth of the scorching sun on our spf’d faces and feel the rains down in Africa, we want to show off our bronzed bods in electric brights and the boldest of graphic prints, and dance to the rhythm of a tribal beat. Alas, an across the world sojourn is not in our future, but while we wait for summer to show, there’s no stopping us from going global when it comes to retail therapy.

Missoni’s watch collabo swaps straps for scarves
By Laura Schober
Missoni has collaborated with plastic watch makers ToyWatch on a limited-edition collection that launched today. The colourful designs, inspired by the Italian brand’s signature scarves, swap standard straps for fabrics such as lightweight silks and zigzag knits that are meant to be wound around the wrist and knotted.
The watches ($540 each) come in six styles, and only 250 of each model will be sold worldwide. Five Canadian stores–Blubird in Vancouver, The Bay Queen Street and Cupido in Toronto, Sophie Cosmetics and Accessories in Richmond Hill and Abe & Mary’s in Montreal–will carry only one of each style, so if you want one, snag it before they sell out.

Purple mag editor Olivier Zahm has been dumped by his main lady love, Natacha Ramsay, for another man. Zahm wrote a post on Purple Diary, which was accompanied by an image of a shattered frame of an image of the two during happier times. An excerpt: “She called me to tell me that she loves him, that we are finished. I asked her to come back two times and she said no two times […] Right now I’m just a mess.” [Purple Diary]

Fashion news: Givenchy nixes couture runway, McQueen’s ashes buried and teen plastic surgeries on the rise
Givenchy has nixed its couture runway show in favour of private appointments. “I want to make couture even more special than it is, and not just another catwalk show,” designer Riccardo Tisci told WWD. “People can really experience the couture moment: See it, touch it.” The 10-look collection will contain no black (a first for him, says Tisci) and the designer is quick to point out that the new format is not a money saver–it will cost about 35 per cent more than a runway show. Okay, while there’s a big kerfuffle going on at Roberto Cavalli (I ‘m hearing it’s over Lindsay Lohan, and Courtney Love) let me take a minute and think way back to see if I can possibly absorb all I’ve seen today and yesterday. Since I last blogged, I’ve been to showrooms, presentations and shows too numerous to list. Here are some highlights:
