While New York show-goers may be all bundled up, the stars sitting in the front row are sporting some stellar spring looks. This morning Rose Byrne and Blake Lively held court front row at the Michael Kors Fall 2014 show, both dressed in designs from the Spring 2014 collection.
Looking like a statuesque goddess—as is her nature—Blake Lively arrived at the Michael Kors Fall 2014 show dressed in an all-navy outfit from the designer’s spring collection. The ensemble consisted of a navy floral-print skirt with a matching bustier and blazer, cinched with a camel-coloured leather belt. Lively accessorized her look with a pair of neutral studded pumps by Christian Louboutin and two pendant necklaces. (One was a dog paw charm and the other a charm with the letter R, most likely for her hot hubbie Ryan Reynolds.) With her signature flowing blonde hair and that naturally bronzed complexion, Lively sat comfortably in the front row alongside Freida Pinto and the aforementioned Rose Byrne.

Backstage beauty sneak peek: 5 of the best new products used at the Fall 2014 shows
Left: Donna Karan photography by Peter Stigter; Right: 3.1 Phillip Lim photography courtesy Nars One of the best things about going backstage at New York fashion week is seeing what the top makeup artists and hairstylists are using in their kits. It’s often a sneak peek at products not yet on shelves, or uncommon tools they’ve found on their travels. Here, five of the best products we’ve spied backstage this week at the Fall 2013 shows:

Street Style, New York: 50 photos of colourful fur, Team Canada mittens and statement coats at the Fall 2014 shows
Photography by Stefania Yarhi It’s been almost a full week of New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 shows and we were beginning to wonder if the fashion elite had any tricks left up their sleeves when it came to cold weather dressing. There are only so many ways you can stay warm and stylish, right? Nope! Today’s batch of street style photos from photographer Stefania Yarhi take outwear to new heights with mixes of colourful fur, dashes of metallic sheen and noteworthy footwear.
Preetma Singh, Eva Chen and several other fashion go-ers showed off panelled fur vests and jackets, all picking up on the colour-blocking trend while staying warm in the process. Warming our hearts, on the other hand, was the abundance of Hudson’s Bay Team Canada mittens spotted on the streets of New York—Olympic spirit is always in style! Alexa Chung looked positively Bowie-esque in a futuristic iridescent coat—while simultaneously keeping it ladylike with a prim purse. Ece Sükan went for an ’80s throwback vibe, mixing a cinched mod leather jacket with a bold gold skirt peeking out from underneath.

New York Fashion Week: The top 5 colour trends for Fall 2014 so far
See the trends from New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 »
Just before New York Fashion Week, Pantone released its forecast for Fall 2014, citing “Radiant Orchid,” “Mauve Mist” and “Aurora Red” as some of the top hits. Well, yup. From ball gowns to the avant-garde, designers have kept their hues in check this season, using a pretty strikingly clear palette from which to create. Here are some of the standouts, Pantone-approved or otherwise:

Katie Holmes vs. Anna Kendrick: Which sweetheart star was best dressed in the front row at NYFW?
See the front row looks up close »
While our street style shots have captured an abundance of colour on the streets of New York, it seems that all-black is the dominant trend in the celebrity-filled front row. Case in point: Katie Holmes and Anna Kendrick. Holmes has been working the NYFW circuit for a few years now, whereas Kendrick is quickly becoming a front row staple at this season’s shows. While they have yet to sit side by side , their style is certainly in tandem.
At last night’s Donna Karan Fall 2014 show—which was also the label’s 30th anniversary—Katie Holmes switched up her usually demure style with a sexy black Donna Karan outfit. Comprised of a fitted leather bodice and flowing, sheer black skirt it was a departure from the city-casual looks she’s become known for. (Speaking of, her Holmes and Yang label doesn’t seem to be showing this season. Hmm.) The actress kept her hair simple with a tousled, natural wave and her makeup was at a minimum—very much in line with her campaign looks for Bobbi Brown. While Suri would have been an excellent addition to her outfit, Holmes looked like she was enjoying her solo night out and spent much of the show chatting with British singer Rita Ora.

Street Style, New York: 52 photos of Hudson’s Bay stripes, spring-worthy layers and ’90s style outside the Fall 2014 shows
Photography by Stefania Yarhi Despite the still-cold, still-snowy conditions in New York City, yesterday the fashion set threw caution to the chilly wind and made like it was spring. Breezy layers, exposed legs and bright colours continued to be popular street style choices outside Monday’s Fall 2014 shows, which included Carolina Herrera, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Theory. There were obviously some people who heeded their mother’s advice from years gone by and bundled up—but even then a colourful, strappy shoe or sheer layer helped liven the look up.
In today’s batch of photos, our photographer Stefani Yarhi did a little stripe spotting, capturing two colourful Hudson’s Bay blanket coats in Monday’s street style mix. Also wearing a rainbow of colour was Helena Bordon, in head-to-toe Spring 2014 Prada including the coveted pop art-inspired jacket, athletic shin socks and an embellished skirt. Leandra Medine wore a gorgeous tangerine duster, done in ’90s minimalism with high-waisted denim and an off-white turtleneck and sweater.

New York Fashion Week: What the modern-day society swans will be wearing for Fall 2014
Photography by Peter Stigter You’ve heard of the Day of the Dead. Well, yesterday was the Day of the Debs at New York Fashion Week. Bright and early, my day began with a preview of the upcoming Charles James exhibit at the newly named Metropolitan Museum of Art Anna Wintour Centre (née Costume Institute) and model/actress/daughter of Isabella Rossellini Elettra Wiedemann modeling one of his original society swan designs. Then, it was onto Chanel HQ for a viewing of Karl’s latest collection of couture magic (encrusted sneakers included), featuring corset waists fit surely for ladies who lunch… or actually who don’t lunch.
Up and coming designer Rosie Assoulin brought Charles James to Fall 2014 with her second superb collection of structural sportswear-meets-society separates and evening gowns straight out of this famed Cecil Beaton photograph. Velvet sashes layered over sweatpants! That’s how the modern swans do. And later that night, yet more odes to James at Zac Posen, where a teal panniered duchess satin gown was so glamorously wide, it grazed my feet as it flew past.

Green glitter at Altuzarra, helmet hair at Alexander Wang: 9 beauty statements from the Fall 2014 shows
Photography courtesy Nars The eyes, hair and nails have been making most of the beauty statements so far on the Fall 2014 runways at New York Fashion Week. Here are our favourite looks and the top beauty trends so far:
Russet lipstick as eyeshadow at Helmut Lang
Helmut Lang’s textured, masculine collection was complemented with a simple, pared down face punctuated by a soft wash of lustrous burgundy on the eye. “It’s very minimal and clean but with a hint of punk,” said lead artist Hannah Murray, who painted Nars lipstick in “Deborah Audacious” (coming this fall) onto the eye and pressed “Heat” bronzing powder over it to set. She skipped eyeliner, mascara and brow colour, and kept the under-eye area clean to avoid a “pink-eye” effect. -
Kelly Rowland vs. Hailee Steinfeld: Who wore black and white best at New York Fashion Week?
See the front row looks up close »
We’re only a few days into the circus that’s Fashion Month and there’s already some exceptional front row celebrity watching to be had. Kelly Rowland and Hailee Steinfeld were two of the many celebrities attending the New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 shows this past weekend, sitting front row at Public School and Prabal Gurung, respectively. Both stars stepped out in black and white ensembles that borrowed some inspiration from the southwest, a trend that Chanel just may have helped start with their Dallas show.
Kelly Rowland debuted a new bob at the Public School Fall 2014 show—which included the label’s first womenswear collection—and while we were certainly getting some throwback Destiny’s Child vibes, we couldn’t look past her leather ensemble. The Tom Ford Fall 2013 top certainly helped Rowland tap into her Texas roots, as it incorporated some serious Southern-style fringe-work on the sleeves and hem. Rowland finished her look off with a white KTZ undershirt splashed with foreign text on the hem and thigh-high leather Christian Louboutin boots. The R&B songstress was definitely having a rock star moment with her ensemble.

Street Style, New York: We spot Jenna Lyons, Miroslava Duma, Olivia Palermo and more outside the Fall 2014 shows
Photography by Stefania Yarhi While many of us spent the weekend huddled inside watching the Sochi action, New York Fashion Week kept editors, bloggers and fashion lovers out and about in the cold for the Fall 2014 shows. With all the commuting between venues—from Manhattan to Brooklyn and back again—cozy outerwear and slush-proof footwear was essential.
Fur continues to be a huge trend outside the tents, with everything from bright-blue faux to ’70s shearling to a mod Isabel Marant racoon coat being snapped by our street style photographer, Stefania Yarhi. Eva Chen kept things light and youthful in a super fluffy snowman-esque coat and rainbow-metallic kicks, while Jenna Lyons effortlessly worked the quirky mismatched-yet-tailored style she pioneered.
