From everyday girl to perfume spokesperson: Introducing Jessica Kruger, Lise Watier Something Sweet ambassador
Lise Watier has some exciting news to share. Not only does the Montreal-based cosmetics company have a delicious new scent on the market, they’ve gone against the model-as-spokesperson trend and chosen a young Canadian woman as its ambassador. A nationwide contest was launched to find the new ambassador for the scent, appropriately titled Something Sweet. After rounds of online voting and in-person judging, the position was claimed by Jessica Kruger of Coquitlam, B.C. She dazzles in the Something Sweet ad campaign, which is set to launch this fall in magazines, Shoppers Drug Mart stores and online.
“I’m a big fan of playing with makeup, I love to be a girlie girl” Kruger says, describing the campaign as a “good fit.” A fourth-year student at Simon Fraser University, Kruger plays rugby and volunteers for various charitable causes. Oh, and did we mention she is the very first person with quadriplegia to act as a beauty ambassador for a cosmetic brand?
We caught up with Jessica Kruger, who we’ll certainly be seeing a lot of soon, to talk about how she landed this pretty sweet gig and what it’s like becoming the face of a national campaign:

See our must-have eyelash, eyeliner and mascara picks! »
It’s been 46 years since Yardley of London introduced Twiggy Lashes and Twiggy Eye Paint to help the masses replicate the doll-like stare of the model of that and many more moments, but her gaze lingers on. This is a season of 1960s-inflected eyes, reimagined as a thick strip of fringe and pale blue lids at Giorgio Armani, spiky top-and-bottom falsies at Moschino and smoky shadow with mile-long lashes at Gucci. The difference now is that we have the benefit of 21st-century cosmetic technology: Faux lashes are being made with laser-cut paper, feathers and mink, and mascara wands are so painstakingly sculpted and engineered, they resemble tiny topiaries.

Q&A: 5 minutes with Audrey Blondin-Rocheleau
You could say that beauty runs in the family of 17-year-old model Audrey Blondin-Rocheleau. The granddaughter of cosmetics magnate Lise Watier (who launched her beauty brand in 1972) stars in several fashion campaigns this summer, including Limité, Rad Hourani, Mimi & Coco and Parasuco. Beyond fashion, this wunderkind is prepping for medical school.
What was it like growing up as Lise Watier’s granddaughter?
“For me, she’s just my grandmother. She takes care of me, she cooks for me. She does what a grandmother does.”
