TIFF 2013: Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law, Mila Kunis, Jessica Chastain and more stop by the Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew
See all the pictures from the Variety Studio at Holt Renfrew »
Considering Holt Renfrew hosts the TIFF Variety Studio every year, one would expect all the stars to be immaculately dressed (quick shop before the presser, anyone?). Well it seems someone must have been thinking like us because all the celebs were dressed to the nines in their designer wares.
A newly-engaged Scarlett Johansson was spotted perusing the men’s section (buying goodies for her fiancé, perhaps?) in a paneled plaid/leather dress by Sachin + Babi. Paired with chunky, patent, platform Robert Clergerie loafers, it was a total ‘90s throwback. The only thing that had us a little confused was her pin-up girl hair, which seemed a bit too fussy for her elegant-grunge look.
As expected, Third Person co-stars Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde both knocked it out of the proverbial park with their haute wares. The Black Swan star chose a very slimming/Slimane (get it?) Saint Laurent tuxedo and Nicholas Kirkwood heels, while Wilde went a little more unconventional in an embellished Marios Schwab top and skirt and Jimmy Choo heels.

TIFF 2013: The full list of the stars coming to town (plus, how we may embarrass ourselves in front of them)
It’s here! After about a month of speculation since the Toronto International Film Festival first announced its roster of films, a list of attendees has been released through the festival’s Pinterest page and it’s A-list enough to get your stalking senses tingling. We ain’t even going to try to hide the fact that we become extraordinary (but elegant) creeps during TIFF, so without further ado, here’s our game plan for approaching the biggest and best stars at TIFF 2013.

Oz the Great and Powerful: The skinny on the film’s glitzy witchy costumes (and of course, that Emerald City)
See the Oz the Great and Powerful costumes up-close »
Disney’s new film Oz The Great and Powerful is opening in movie theatres tomorrow. And not only are we excited to see James Franco in L. Frank Baum’s classic Oz setting, but we also can’t wait to take in the film’s visually stunning fashion and cinematography.
Created by costume designers Gary Jones and Michael Kutsche, the fashion of Oz reflects the glitz and glamour of L. Frank Baum’s classic storybook setting, while frequently using emerald, ahem, Pantone’s Colour of the Year (How perfect!) Jones and Kutsche created almost 2000 costumes for the film, including several elaborate looks for the film’s witchy stars Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz.

Michelle Williams vs. Rachel Weisz: Who wore it best at the Oz The Great and Powerful London premiere?
See the premiere looks up-close »
With an OPI nail polish collection and an assortment of dramatic costumes, Oz: The Great and Powerful is sure to be a fashionable film. Oz doesn’t hit theatres until next Friday, March 8th, but at the European premiere in London today cast members such as Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz looked stunning walking the “Yellow Brick Road” in place of a red carpet.
Michelle Williams, who plays Glinda in the Wizard of Oz prequel film, wore an emerald feather embroidered Burberry dress to the premiere. She paired the aqua number with a tiny box clutch and minimal makeup for a vibrant look that complemented the film’s fantastical nature.

They said/We said: Natalie Portman’s Black Swan co-star (and fellow Jew) Mila Kunis is the new face of Dior Handbags
Dior has signed Mila Kunis as the newest face of its Miss Dior handbags. The campaign, shot by Mikael Jansson, features a very Parisian-chic Kunis in black clothes and a chignon. (But of course.)
The advertisements are set to debut in international editions of Elle, Vogue, and Madame Figaro by January 15, reaching the American monthlies after January 29.
This will be Kunis’ first major ad campaign since she wowed audiences with her stellar performance in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. And the casting for the ad is an interesting one, if you remember Dior’s scrape with anti-semiticism last year. Kunis’ Black Swan co-star, Natalie Portman, also represents the brand, but threatened to leave the fashion house last March following Galliano’s anti-semitic comments. Despite Galliano’s outbursts, it seems that Dior has a soft spot for Jewish actress-ballerinas.
Perhaps this was Dior’s way of definitively stating that they do not share Galliano’s beliefs. Then again, Kunis was one of the most bankable cover stars of 2011, gracing Cosmopolitan, Elle, GQ, and W mags.
Delphine Arnault, deputy general manager of Dior, told WWD that Kunis’ print campaign would be part of a larger “worldwide media plan.” Does this mean a quirky fashion video of Kunis is in our future? We sure hope so.

SNP’s word of the day: Hackerazzi
Word: Hackerazzi
Meaning: An unholy union of the words “hacker” (computer criminal) and “paparazzi” (celeb-chasers).
Usage: “The [FBI] confirmed that actress Scarlett Johansson is named as one of the victims. Other victims in the investigation, dubbed Operation Hackerazzi, were not named.” — L.A. Times

So hot right now: The Muppet edition
Great news for all of us grown-up Muppet fans: Not only is The Muppets coming to theatres this November (starring Mila Kunis, Amy Adams, Katy Perry and a slew of funny stars), our favourite fuzzy friends just announced two stylish collaborations. Muppets x Opening Ceremony will debut at the label’s New York store during Fashion’s Night Out, with the darling Miss Piggy on hand as guest of honour. Although there’s still no news on what the collection will include, we’re hoping for feather-boa trim, a Count von Count–style cloak and anything that makes it easy bein’ green. OPI will also be releasing a line of 12 Muppet-inspired polish shades, set to hit stores on November 23. With names like “Designer, de-better,” “Excuse Moi!” and “Animal-istic,” we can’t wait to get it on our fingers and toes. This calls for a “Mahnahmahnah!”

Celeb poll: Who did brights the best at the SAG Awards?
The red carpet at last night’s Screen Actor’s Guild Awards in LA was just like the spring runways: bright, bright and brighter! Newcomers Hailee Steinfeld and Jennifer Lawrence looked as if they planned to match in their similarly sunny orange and pink hues (in Prada and Oscar de la Renta respectively). Meanwhile, Black Swan leading ladies Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis played on their roles in the film, Natalie in a stunning white Azzaro and Mila in a dramatic Alexander McQueen. Who wore bright the best? Have your say, after the jump!

Celeb poll: Vote for your favourite Golden Globes look!
Colour was everywhere on last night’s Golden Globes red carpet. So much so, that we are seriously considering a mid-winter makeover. From the emerald green worn by Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Moss and Mila Kunis to the shades of bubblegum on Claire Danes, Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, the spectrum was covered at every point.
This year, it also seemed that the ball gown was eschewed – with the exception of a few knockout odes from Catherine Zeta-Jones and Olivia Wilde – for the sleek and sexy cutout lines on Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway and January Jones.
Between all of these visual delights, who do you think did it the best? View the full looks after the jump!
