CFDA Awards 2013: Our recap of the winners, the red carpet outfits and more
See photos from the CFDA Awards 2013 »
The who’s who of fashion piled into the Lincoln Centre’s Alice Tully Hall last night for the CFDA Awards 2013 in New York City. For those who are a little unfamiliar to the event, the ceremony is to the fashion industry what the Grammys are to music. Let’s just say, you’re more likely to see Zac Posen on the red carpet, that you are J Biebs.
From Hilary Rhoda’s Helmut Lang number to Nicole Richie’s metallic maxi, the red carpet saw fashions finest (accompanied by their favourite six-foot-tall friends) in a variety of daring ensembles. Adriana Lima’s floor sweeping Givenchy frock left little to the imagination with its sheer skirt, while Jessica Chastain’s little black after-party-ready dress looked fabulous with her main accessory, Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci, whom she later presented the international award to. Erin Wasson looked positively futuristic in her edgy Alexander Wang gown while Miranda Kerr supported the boys at Proenza Schouler with a stunning blue mini by the label. Kerr’s fellow Victoria’s Secret angel Candice Swanepoel accompanied a very lucky Prabal Gurung to the event. Poor Michael Kors, who couldn’t decide on which model-friend to be his plus one, ended up bringing two dazzling dates, Karolina Kurkova and Cody Horn, who wore shimmering pieces from his collection. Meanwhile, Mary-Kate Olsen swapped sisters for the night, dressing Elizabeth Olsen in The Row while she stuck to her vintage penchant in Issey Miyake.

Glitter, gloss, wings, 6-inch heels, plenty of pink, big, sexy hair and legs that go on for days—the Victoria’s Secret Angels know how to give good glam. Hours before the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show began, we headed backstage amidst clouds of hairspray, racks of Swarovski-encrusted pink satin Victoria’s Secret robes and throngs of editors/bloggers/photographers to get the inside scoop from the heavenly ones (The jitters! The diets! The costumes!). Pre-show, Twitter was a-buzz with news of Karlie Kloss’s new ‘do but post-show it was all about her controversial Native American-inspired costume, which subsequently will be pulled from the televised show on December 4th. From Justin Bieber to Bruno Mars to mega-babe Rihanna, the musical performances didn’t disappoint, nor did the star-studded front row which included Alexander Wang, 30 Rock’s Katrina Bowden, Debbie Harry, members of Kings of Leon , Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr and Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend Austin Butler. Here, FASHION shares our all-access pass to this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, backstage and beyond….

Quotable: Miranda Kerr shares some speedy beauty tricks that are definitely worth stealing
Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has less time in her beauty schedule since having her son Flynn, so she’s gotten resourceful. The model curls her lashes by applying a coat of mascara and pinching them between her thumb and a spoon (yes, a spoon!). As for her luminous skin? Kerr told BellaSugarTV she uses a dry body brush and a touch of rosehip oil:

Enjoy today’s visual feast, and be sure to come back next week when we share our snaps from Toronto.

Project Runway All Stars recap: Gelato gowns for Miranda Kerr?
Things took a porcine turn last episode, so I was thrilled to see the Project Runway producers go a little softer (or maybe soft serve?) on the All Stars this week, plying them with stupidly named gelato flavors before slapping them with their dubious challenge.
We chart our gelato flavoured feelings throughout the episode »

Our favourite backstage moments and the top 10 reasons to watch tonight’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show
Sometimes it can take a lot to spark a fashion editor’s interest. But when there’s 38 Victoria’s Secret Angels, 69 couture-like looks, 6 fashion show themes, a 2.5 million dollar bra and musical performances by Kanye West, Jay-Z, Maroon 5, and Nicki Minaj on offer, there’s only one thing to say: what time is my flight to New York? From backstage to front row, here’s my top ten VS fashion show moments in advance of tonight’s airing on CBS at 10/9c.

PFW diary: Our top picks from Stella McCartney, Giambattista Valli, Vanessa Bruno, Emanuel Ungaro, Chloé, and Yves Saint Laurent
With a thriving ready-to-wear brand, several collaboration projects on the go, four kids, a dashing hubby (publisher Alasdhair Willis) and an icon for a Dad (Sir Paul!) it’s little wonder we bow down to Stella McCartney. Who doesn’t want to be a Stella girl? She’s effortlessly chic but not perfectly turned out; she is a minimalist but has a playful side; she is confident and a great confidante. In the modeling world a Stella girl looks like Miranda Kerr, Natasha Poly, Natalia Vodianova, or Anja Rubik, fitting given that they all walked in McCartney’s Spring 2012 show. And what a show it was: crisp white jackets with mesh inserts, Baroque-inspired embellishment, a shockwave of royal blue, tunics with side slits (a big theme this week), casual pieces in a graphic wave motif reminiscent of silk pajamas, paisley (welcome back!), one-shouldered dresses, onyx-white clutches, sporty flatforms, and quilted shoulder bags tied in a bow.
