Spring 2014 shoes: 55 favourites we’re already itching to get our feet into
See our favourite Spring 2014 shoes »
With Paris Fashion Week ending our month long preview of all things Spring 2014, it’s time we gushed over the shoes that accompanied all that we are dying to wear in the coming season.
Femininity reigned supreme on the runway through Balenciaga, Dior and Roland Mouret’s take on the stiletto. Dior’s complexly inter woven straps would make any shoe addict salivate. At Balmain, our impending full coverage boots will shed a few layers and appear as heeled boots with varying dotted sheer and embellished cage finishes. While we saw Saint Laurent’s fall styles embrace the studded and spiked appeal of punk’s aesthetic, Junya Watanabe clung onto the trend for his Spring 2014 shoes with a menacing ankle boot. Enviable green snakeskin heels and platform chunky heels were seen at Gucci and Michael Kors respectively. Spring is incomplete without feather embellished flats as seen at Rochas.

Hailee Steinfeld vs. Kiernan Shipka: Who was best dressed at the Max Mara Women in Film party?
Last night, Max Mara and W Magazine co-hosted a cocktail party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles in honour of the True Grit star, Hailee Steinfeld. As the winner of the 2013 Max Mara’s Face Of The Future Award, the former Academy Award nominee follows the footsteps of past recipients Chloe Moretz, Katie Holmes, Zoe Saldana and Emily Blunt in recognition of “outstanding performances and their embodiment of style and grace” within the entertainment industry.
Though it seems like the guest of honour didn’t receive the memo to dress colourfully, Steinfeld looked stunning in a structured Sportmax grey cotton and neoprene sleeveless dress. Adding a pop of colour to her ensemble, she matched her outfit with a pair of fun black and neon yellow strappy heels. She completed her effortless look with her hair side swept into a low ponytail and coral statement lips.

MFW diary: Sports in the Swiss Alps at Sportmax, Jil Sander and Emilio Pucci
It was nice to catch up with Deena Weinberg, owner of Toronto’s Max Mara shop at the Sportmax show. It’s a little out of context for the two of us, we’re more often caught sweating on our bikes at Sunday morning spin class than at a fashion show! The collection was big on coats with swingy tweed toppers, parkas and a particularly strong rusty patent leather floor length trench. Texture was the name of the game with sheer appliqued embroidered floral prints, chunky rib knits, sequins and this season’s obligatory coloured fur.
