Ashley Olsen vs. Leigh Lezark: Who was best dressed at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic
See the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic red carpet »
This past weekend, a number of A-listers attended one of summer’s most stylish social events in Liberty State Park, New Jersey: the Sixth Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Celebrating the sunshine on the first of June, many well-dressed celebrities were spotted including a dapper-looking co-host, Matthew McConaughey in a three-piece linen suit and wife Camila Alves in a yellow Herve Leger dress by his side. Models, Olympic athletes and style icons like Leigh Lezark, Ashley Olsen and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld also made their way down the red carpet looking fabulous in florals, stripes and spring colours.
The Olsen sisters are famous for their bohemian and minimalist red carpet looks. So at her first public event since the Met Gala last month, it was no surprise to see that Ashley Olsen wore another eastern-inspired dress. Dressed in a vintage red kaftan dress with gold embroidery down the front, neck and sleeves, she paired her vintage look with black Hermès studded sandals, aviator sunglasses and a small off-white shoulder bag by her label, The Row.

The Olsens and Damien Hirst have created a $55,000 bag covered in pills
The Olsen twins have gone from solving crimes by dinnertime to creating a bag covered in pills that amphetamine loving beauty blogger Cat Marnell probably dreams about at night.
The Row first released a mini crocodile backpack that retailed for $35,000 with plenty of criticism, which then proceeded to sell out. Now, the mini backpack has returned as a collaboration between artist, Damien Hirst, and The Row. The 12 extremely limited edition bags have gone up in price (eek!) and will set a buyer back a cool $55,000.

Katy Perry has Daria nail art! Here are 5 other ’90s icons we’d like to see painted on her nails
Katy Perry was in Tokyo yesterday for the Japanese premiere of her film Part of Me and while there she decided to indulge in some incredible nail art. In a very ’90s nostalgia move, Katy Perry had the faces of nine characters from the cult MTV animated series Daria painted on her nails. This unexpected manicure got us thinking of what other ’90s icons we’d like to see Katy Perry try:
1. The ultimate boy band rivalry: Backstreet Boys on one hand and *NSYNC on the other. Conveniently these groups had five members apiece, so there’s no need to fight over whether Justin or Nick get top placement.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen bring their sunglasses strengths to a lower price range
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have brought their ability to create the most covetable sunglasses (just how many E&J pairs have made it to the top of your shopping list?) to a lower price range, introducing two styles to their Stylemint collection for spring. We’d take bets on which twin created which style—the cat eye […]

Quotable: Mary-Kate Olsen doesn’t think she’s cool
With everything from a beyond-covetable fashion empire to a rad VHS career under her belt, it would seem Mary-Kate Olsen is the zeitgeist of all things trendy. Alas, the fashionista took to British Elle to tell everyone her and her sister, Ashley Olsen, are precisely not that: “We’re not really fashion obsessed. In fact, I […]

NYFW diary: Proenza Schouler heads east, Michael Kors goes north, and Marchesa channels Joan of Arc
Nothing like a surefire collection to make stock market bells ring, right? At Michael Kors’ Fall 2012 showing—the first since his company went public in December—he pulled out all the stops to make the registers go ka-ching. The celeb-filled front row, including Jessica Alba, Stacy Keibler, Anjelica Huston, and Debra Messing (and me, in case you were wondering), oohed and ahhed over the heritage-style buffalo-check skirts, overcoats, and capes, the sequined flapper evening gowns, and the ultra-glam layered furs. The designer’s colour of the season, red, was particularly winning on a retro tailored overcoat combo’d with removable fur collar that was elongated to one side. It was that Bay-blanket feel but double the luxe.

On the eve of Sienna and Savannah Miller’s departures from Twenty8Twelve, we look back at the top 10 best and worst celebrity fashion lines
We were shocked to hear that one of the first (and few) celebrity lines to succeed, Twenty8Twelve, announced today that notoriously stylish Sienna Miller and her designer sister Savannah Miller have left the label. Come fall, the label will change its name from Twenty8Twelve by s. miller to Twenty8Twelve London. Despite the loss of the two co-creative directors, the brand will still show at the upcoming London fashion week, and has plans to expand into e-commerce and open a new store in New York (in addition to their successful London stores and sales in department stores worldwide).
This news about one of the most prominent celebrity lines got us thinking about celebrity status and fashion-line success. We revisit 10 of the best and worst celebrity fashion lines out there and give you our verdicts.

They said/We said: Fashion’s up and comers land on Forbes’ 30 under 30
With 2011 wrapping up, many end-of-year lists have been popping up. Today, Forbes released their twelve 30 Under 30 lists of people who are making a mark in their respective fields. Fashion folk have a large presence in the art and design category.
The industry’s latest bright young things that made the cut include Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who have become respected fashion designers for their high-end line, The Row, which sold out of their $35,000 bags and designed T-shirts for shopping site stylemint.com. It’s no surprise that Pamela Love and Alexander Wang are included in the list, considering both of their brands’ successes this past year. Rounding out the fashionable list is recent CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner and industry darling Joseph Altuzarra. Tavi Gevinson, 15-year-old former fashion blogger turned editor-in-chief of teen cool-girl magazine Rookie repped fashion in the media category.

How would you describe the Erdem woman?
“Strong, confident and beautiful.”What are the must-have pieces for fall 2011?
“Our fitted Devan dress, which is supersexy. Wear it with our oversized boyfriend cable-knit jumper over your shoulders, in case you get chilly.”
