Alexander Wang to Balenciaga? The latest from the post-Ghesquière rumour mill
The rumour mill has steadily been churning since the announcement of Nicolas Ghesquière’s departure from Balenciaga. Effective tomorrow, the seat of the creative director will officially be vacant, but as of today it seems that Alexander Wang has pulled ahead of the bunch and is the front-runner for the position.
According to the French newspaper, Nouvel Observator, Wang has emerged as the shoo-in for the job, and this statement was followed up by, New York Times writer, Cathy Horyn—who was one of the first to break the news about Ghesquiere’s departure—in an article that said the announcement of Wang’s new role at Balenciaga could come as early as next week.

Christopher Kane to leave Versus. Could it be for Balenciaga?
Just weeks after news broke that Nicholas Ghesquière was leaving Balenciaga, Christopher Kane is doing the same with his role at Versus.
While busy designing his namesake line, Christopher Kane has been working at the helm of Versus, alongside Donatella Versace for the past six years. Today, the label announced a mutual separation agreement. Versus plans to slow down the production of its seasonal collections and focus more on the digital aspect of the brand, with Donatella Versace designing the label with help from young designers and stylists.
About his departure from Versus, Kane said, “the time has come to dedicate all my focus to the future of the Christopher Kane label.” Or could he mean Balenciaga?

Balenciaga rumours: Who would you like to see replace Nicolas Ghesquière?
We were given 24 hours to reflect upon the departure of Nicolas Ghesquière from Balenciaga before the rumour mill started up, and the rumours will only continue until the Parisian fashion house announces whom it has selected to take the reigns.
Chief executive officer, Isabelle Guichot, told WWD that they will announce the successor of Nicolas Ghesquière “as soon as we’re ready” but added that they “have a short list.”
Although she declined to delve into the short list, speculation has already been made about who will be stepping in. According to sources, American-based designers Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra are rumoured to be candidates for the coveted role as well as London talents, Mary Katrantzou, J.W. Anderson, Thomas Tait and Christopher Kane.

Beauty trend: Flushed cheeks, glistening skin and hit-the-showers hair did laps on the Spring 2012 runways. We take a closer look at athletic-inspired beauty
Drenched hair and skin, cheeks flushed from exertion—with clear eyes and full hearts, Kari Molvar contends this season’s beauty can’t lose.
Gearing up for fashion week is always a sport in itself, but this season designers and backstage beauty pros went for a literal interpretation. With slicked-back hair and rosy cheeks flushed as if they’d just come in from a run, models strode athletically down the runways in mesh tracksuits, neoprene zip-ups and jerseys ticked with racing stripes. But even if you’re not in training mode, the look is just as chic. With that in mind, we asked the elite hair and makeup pros to give us a few pointers on pulling off the trend.
