Another seven days of glamazons gliding down runways in immaculate designer creations has come again. The weekend in celebrity style: See who made our top 10 best dressed
Summer may not be officially here, but celebs sure dressed the part this past weekend at the seventh annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in sunny New Jersey. Wearing seasonal-appropriate ensembles, A-list stars, models and fashion’s elite enjoyed each other’s company watching the polo match from the sidelines (with Behati Prinsloo throwing out the ceremonial ball toss) and toasting their vintage Rosé to the city skyline.
Some of the stars like Olivia Munn and Leigh Lezark wore little white numbers to help beat the heat, but our eyes were drawn (naturally) to Lupita Nyong’o who worked her usual understated glamour in a statement black and white patterned dress. Two other guests also stuck to the popular black and white dress code. Fifty Shades of Grey’s star Dakota Johnson donned a simple sundress and matching accessories, while Julia Restoin-Roitfeld looked ultra chic in a Dolce & Gabbana outfit with pops of colour in the accessories department.

Fall 2014 preview: What 5 Canadian designers have planned for New York Fashion Week

For those designing, it’s probably high time for panic. As most creative types would find easy to empathize with, one week till takeoff is the time when everything goes wrong. Model castings, seating charts and beauty briefs—they’re all going down right about now. We reached out to a few of our favourite Canadian designers to see how they were doing and to our shock, they all seem pretty cool and collected. Meanwhile, they gave us a peek at what they’ve got on slow burn for their upcoming shows during New York Fashion Week.

Behind the scenes at Tanya Taylor’s wedding: From her haute couture wedding gown to the tropical paradise venue
See all the details, including Taylor’s Elie Saab couture dress »
As someone who didn’t grow up fantasizing about her big day, Tanya Taylor’s recent walk down the aisle had all the makings of a modern fairytale. The 27-year-old Toronto-born, New York-based designer—who recently showed her Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection in both cities, earning high praise from editors and buyers alike—spent a year and a half ensuring that her April 20 destination wedding would be as stylish and personal as the clothes she creates. The idyllic locale—the luxe Sandy Lane resort in Barbados—certainly didn’t hurt, nor did the romantic nature of the groom, business development manager Michel Pratte. He proposed to Taylor, after a 10-year on-and-off courtship, with a poem and a spectacular antique ring—an 1890s old-mine-cut diamond in a 1920s art deco setting—that had caught her eye months earlier at an estate jewellery boutique. So far, so dreamy.
Then there was her magical dress: an intricately embellished cloud of white organza by ready-to-wear designer and couturier Elie Saab, based on a showstopper from his Fall 2012 haute couture show in Paris.

See all our fashion month coverage »Fashion month may have finally wrapped, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to forget about the trends that emerged for Fall 2013 on the many runways of New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto—In fact, it’s time for them to take front and centre. While shoppers everywhere are snapping up the best of the selling floor’s offerings for spring and summer, designers, buyers and editors alike are busy prepping ahead. And since we know y’all like to keep ahead of the curve, we’ve sorted through hundreds of photos and selected 10 of the top Fall 2013 trends so that you can mentally prep (and save) too!
Next season, it’s all about fur, which landed in both faux and real on runways including Marni, JW Anderson, and most strikingly at Fendi, where it was combined in a dizzying multitude of punky ways. The 1990s were back for another resurgence, continuing Spring 2013’s grunge trend at Saint Laurent in Paris and Chloé Comme Parris right here at home. On the street, the look was easily created by many fashion week attendees who layered plaids on waists, under jackets and even on tights. And while practically speaking, it may be no major surprise that outerwear was one of the top Fall 2013 trends, this show season we saw jackets take on new forms with quilting, oversized shapes and bold colours which were mirrored outside the shows, with equally interesting choices hitting the pavement
Here are 100 images to help jog your memory of the top Fall 2013 trends spotted inside and outside of the fashion week stents, so sit back, click through, and relive the fashion month in all its street style and runway glory.

Party Pics: 58 snaps of Toronto’s stylish set kicking off World MasterCard Fashion Week at Holt Renfrew
See all the Holt Renfrew party pictures »
Not even a micro-blizzard can stop Toronto from celebrating the start of World MasterCard Fashion Week in style. Open-toed shoes and floor-grazing hemlines were spotted on many of the attendees at Holt Renfrew’s cocktail kickoff party, with barely a salt stain or goose-bump in sight.
The party, which started after the last of Monday’s shows, transplanted the front row set—that is, a mix of editors, designers, photographers and buyers—onto the third floor of Holt Renfrew. Ambient music (courtesy a Bellosound DJ in a white Jeremy Laing dress) mixed well with on-brand magenta lighting, making for quite the party den far away from the tents at David Pecaut square. And magenta wasn’t just everywhere thanks to the lighting: from Ashley Rowe’s dip-dyed hair and bright caftan to Lisa Tant’s magenta bolero jacket to a pocket square (that may have actually been a pair of panties, according to one onlooker) worn by a crafty male guest, the evening was filled with shades of pink, purple and red.

Love loose curls? Here’s how to do the incredibly easy “dropped out waves” from Tanya Taylor Fall 2013
See the full backstage gallery from Tanya Taylor Fall 2013 »
If you’re a fan of loose curls and beachy waves, listen up. While backstage at the Tanya Taylor Fall 2013 show I witnessed an incredibly inventive way to add movement and texture to hair without relying on a curling iron.
Justin German, Pantene Pro-V’s consulting stylist, wanted “dropped out waves” for the ’60s-inspired look, which meant no structured ringlets were welcome. Instead, German added texture and movement to the hair by rolling pieces up into pin curls and setting them with a quick clamp of the flatiron. “To make it a little more random we [rolled] some one way and some the other way,” German explained of the technique. “We didn’t want it to look like it was done with a curling iron.” Finally, he set everything in place with a quick spritz of Pantene Pro-V Stylers Flexible Hold Hairspray.
