Kate and Pippa wear shades and sport some amazing mid-game expressions at yesterday’s Wimbledon finale
The facial expressions! »
View this look in our Kate Middleton slideshow »At yesterday’s Wimbledon final, we were treated to both Middleton sisters sitting courtside in the royal box not only wearing respectively amazing outfits, but also wearing shades AND making some hilarious mid-game facial expressions (Like this one, for example). We rarely see the Duchess donning shades, which could either be because it’s not according to Royal Protocol, or more likely because London is rarely sunny. As such, it’s being reported that the Givenchy pair she sported mid-game actually belong to Pippa! Go figure.

We talk Britney and Bowie with It girl and M.A.C. Viva Glam Fashion Cares performer Sky Ferreira
“It’s a blessing and a curse,” Sky Ferreira opines about the conflicting aspects of her sound, a duality in tastes that has seen her through gritty Debbie Harry–esque melodies to raw Jon Brion–produced ballads. The 19-year-old singer is a bit of a dichotomy herself: she will unabashedly profess her adoration for Britney Spears in the same breath as her love for David Bowie, and makes no apologies for being tricky to label.

The temperatures are kicking into high gear right about now, spelling out trouble for our beauty, skin and hair upkeep. But with a long weekend on the horizon, the odds of hiding inside during a hot day are slim to none. Our advice: don’t fight it! Instead of sticking to your tried-and-true makeup routine (likely created during cooler times) break out new formulas and looks that work with the heat. Read on to discover a few of our favourite finds that will help you look like a beach bombshell and not a melting mess.

Just released: Givenchy’s Fall 2012 ad starring Stella Tennant makes us want to rave
Now here’s a rave we’d actually like to go to: a dancing Stella Tennant, thumping electronic music and a Givenchy wardrobe. Much more chic than the usual glow-in-the-dark sticks and face paint. The fractured images of Tennant shimmying under a stormy sky in violet Givenchy are meant to capture the electric euphoria of a rave […]

What’s in your bag, Mary Katrantzou?
While she was in Vancouver for The Room’s fête in her honour, all-star Brit designer Mary Katrantzou let us have a snoop fest inside her Mary Poppins-esque Givenchy bag. The hilarious contents seemed never-ending, as did the designer’s penchant for equally hilarious anecdotes of explanation. It’s not every day you get to peek inside the purse of a digi-print genius, so without further ado, we present the bag of one Miss Katrantzou!

Met Best Dressed: Our 10 favourite looks from last night’s Gala red carpet
Well, the biggest night in fashion came and went, and all we have to show for it are some seriously hilarious memories from listening to the paparazzi over livestream (“That picture was great, except for the idiot behind you!” and a knockout top 10 of red carpet getups. From the extreme (hello, Karolina Kurkova‘s full-body shine!) to the ultimate coup (Coco Rocha sported a vintage Givenchy suit once owned by Elizabeth Taylor!) we countdown our favourites starting with none other than Queen Bey in spellbinding Givenchy:

Look again: Vintage fashion continues to influence runways and red carpets. We narrow down the most iconic pieces to invest in today

By Samantha Shephard
It’s a sunny Saturday morning in West Hollywood and Rita Ryack, the Oscar-nominated costume designer known for her work on Casino and A Beautiful Mind, is on a hunt for sequined dresses. Production on the film Rock of Ages is wrapping and she needs one more piece for Catherine Zeta-Jones’ character. Judging by the racks she’s browsing, which are filled with this season’s hottest labels and trends—Versace print T-shirts, heavily embellished Moschino jackets, sweeping red carpet–worthy gowns—you’d think she were shopping at an upscale department store. Think again. She’s at The Way We Wore, a vintage-clothing mecca that attracts A-list clients like Angelina Jolie, Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry. The shop is full of high-end designer pieces, like little black dresses from Chanel, elegant Christian Dior gowns, Pauline Trigère party dresses and Pucci pyjama pants, all dating from the 1930s to the early 1990s.

Online Store of the Week: London-based LN-CC brings everlasting cool to this side of the pond with the best selection ever and ahem, free shipping
The shop: I’ve written about London, UK’s LN-CC before, and I’ll write about them again, because there’s hardly a store like it. Set deep in Dalston in a cubist lair-like space, all raw wood and amber lighting and the smell of incense and cloth, it feels like a more organic future. And because they launched online concurrently, their e-shop is just as far out in front of the pack: their seasonal editorial shoots are so exquisitely on-point, they’ve landed on Style.com. If you’re not on the store’s mailing list, sign up now—you get as much sartorial inspiration as temptation, promise.
The goods: LN-CC, which does nearly three quarters of its business online, sells the best new London designers (J.W. Anderson before you knew who J.W. Anderson was), the most adventurous European labels (Givenchy, Ann Demeulemeester, Commes) and a host of international finds (like high-tech knitwear by Philadelphia’s Lauren Manoogian, or earrings by Canada’s own Jaime Sin). It’s easy to shop for two, too: the men’s section is (a rarity) as good as the women’s, with owner-buyer John Skelton hewing close to his own eclectic—but functional—taste. Just don’t fall for a $400 leather boot strap, because that’s why the Eurozone is collapsing.
None of this so-called curation comes cheap, as you can see, so I suggest keeping a clear head (when are you going to wear a dress that, judging from its price, is made entirely from Edie Sedgwick’s lost sequins and a unicorn’s hair?) and one tab open to their sale page. I am waiting, waiting, waiting for my recurring dream shoes, the derby wood platforms by shoechitect ETS Callatay, to land there. If only there were a god…

The cat-eye: We look to icons of different eras for inspiration—plus, tips for painting your own
The cat-eye is having a moment. Celia Ellenberg takes us through its many versions over the years and finds out how to execute them.
While spring tends to signal the arrival of all beauty things light and bright, the runways told a different story this season as designers embraced a certain graphic cosmetic accoutrement that’s seen an impressive evolution over the past few centuries. Behold, the rebirth of the cat-eye. Black-rimmed upper lash lines were the makeup look of choice at shows such as Ruffian and Dolce & Gabbana, and while the backstage miracle workers made it look easy, mastering the perfect flick on your own can be a different story. We’ve gathered eight eyeliner icons and asked Hourglass Cosmetics’ artistic director Gina Brooke and makeup artist Pati Dubroff to weigh in on whether the liquid pen is truly mightier than the kohl pencil when it comes to crafting the perfect winged liner. Because, according to Brooke, “if you use the right products, getting the look is not an issue.”
