New must-have accessory alert! Sneak a peek at the Maison Martin Margiela and Swarovski collab
If you were following last week’s couture shows in Paris, chances are high that you noticed the embellished head masks donned by models on the runway at Maison Martin Margiela. Indeed, the high fashion face armor was so intriguing that it almost distracted us from the slew of crystal pendants and cuffs subtly wrapped around the arms of the couture-clad models. The understated display was a first peek at the Crystalactite collection, the product of a new design alliance between Maison Martin Margiela and Swarovski.

Met Gala 2013: The 25 best dressed on fashion’s most important red carpet
See the Met Gala 2013 red carpet photos »
The build up to this year’s Met Gala has been major. Designers, celebrities and the fashion elite have been scrambling to piece together a look that fits the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s theme, PUNK: Chaos to Couture and while admittedly, the punk-inspired looks were few and far between, we were certainly thrilled with a few.
Channeling her own recent V Magazine cover, Miley Cyrus went latter day Debbie Harry with platinum blonde spikes and a long fishnet Marc Jacobs dress. Anne Hathaway debuted a similarly bleached bob alongside her date and dresser for the night, Valentino Garavani, sending the twittersphere in a tizzy.
Co-chairs of the event Riccardo Tisci and Rooney Mara went punk-light with Mara in a beautifully detailed white lace Givenchy dress and a pop of crimson on the lips.
Also wearing Givenchy was none other than Beyoncé—the honourary chairperson for this year’s event. Pairing her custom-designed strapless black and gold printed gown with blinged out boots in the same shade, Queen Bey proved for her second year in a row that last on the red carpet is always best.
After finally receiving the Anna Wintour nod of approval, Kim Kardashian made an appearance at the Met Gala 2013 in a floral-print Givenchy dress with baby-daddy, Kanye West at her side.
Someone who is more known for consistently nailing red carpet looks than Kimye, is Emma Watson and she hit a high note yet again in a skin-bearing Prabal Gurung dress with a single silver drop earring hanging from her left ear.
And while Kristen Stewart has held fast to her role as the face of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica, she strayed from the house’s new wears, opting instead, for a crimson Stella McCartney pantsuit.
So who was the best dressed at the Met Gala 2013? Vote in our poll!

Everything from jewels to shoes and even sunglasses has been given an overhaul for a fresh take on Spring 2013 accessory trends.
Jewellery is always a go-to for putting the finishing touches on any look. After previous jewellery trends such as the statement ring and the statement necklace, this spring all eyes are on oversize earrings. Another summer must-have – sunglasses – have also been updated. Prada’s quirky frames have been decorated with graphic floral prints. While at Missoni and Just Cavalli, sunglasses were designed in vibrant hues.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M launch in Toronto: 33 photos of frenzied fans and instant-resellers over-grabbing candy clutches. No fair!
Check out the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M launch in Toronto »
H&M’s designer collaboration collections are famous for creating pandemonium—both industry-wide and on the sales floor. Launch day has become synonymous with block-scaling lines, fight-to-the-death shopping tactics. And so when the announcement came of the brand’s collaboration with conceptual industry favourite Maison Martin Margiela, we wondered how it would pan out as far as the general public was concerned. Margiela is not as household a name as say, Versace or Jimmy Choo.
Today, at Toronto’s Eaton Centre’s launch, it seems we got our answer. Smaller line, calmer crowd. No Versace level insanity.

Maison Martin Margiela for H&M: We travel to Paris and go behind the curtain at the legendarily secret house
See the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection »
We live in an age of TMI: Too. Much. Information. With the constant barrage of tweets, Facebook updates, weekly rags and reality shows (hello, Kardashians) we have all become gossip girls. The fashion industry, that celebrated circus of all things fabulous and freaky, is no exception. From Marc Jacobs’ super-toned and super-tattooed body (we know the intimate details of every one of his 30+ collection) to Karl Lagerfeld’s spoiled Siamese kitty, Choupette (the white fluff ball has two maids and dines off Goyard dishes), it seems a good mystery hasn’t been taken off the shelf in quite some time. Surprising then, or perhaps not at all, that H&M’s next designer collaboration is with Maison Martin Margiela—a visionary house shrouded in secrecy.
