See all our fashion month coverage »With the end of fashion week in Toronto marking the close of Spring 2014 show season, it’s time we looked back at all the trends that emerged. As much as the runway sets the pace for what’s to come for the top Spring 2014 trends, the streets play a major role as show-going trendsetters give us the relatable breakdown of how to wear what’s hot next season. Prints take two spots on our top Spring 2014 trends list through those with a painterly quality and those influenced by international cultures. At Hérmes, Rousseau-inspired water lily florals were printed on luxurious fabrics while at Diane Von Furstenberg, dresses and skirts depicting an African wilderness roared. As for fashionable time travel, prepare to keep reminiscing about the youthful 1990s, which haven’t ceased to get reincarnated season after season. Designers like Rodarte, Balmain and Jason Wu have reinvented the decade’s essentials yet again. To help with your daydreaming of long sunny spring days we’ve compiled the ultimate gallery of top Spring 2014 trends as dictated by the runways and our favourite street style stars in New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto! Beyoncé vs. Solange: Which sister wears bold prints best?
See Beyoncé and Solange’s looks up close »
Beyoncé and Solange Knowles may be two of music’s most powerful sisters. But while they share the ability to create beautiful music, the two couldn’t be more different when it comes to style. Beyoncé’s style has evolved over the years, but recently we are used to seeing her in sexy bodycon dresses, short shorts, and lots of black. Solange, on the other hand, tends to favour bright colours, African prints and breezy, loose cuts.
So when Beyoncé was spotted in Cuba this week looking a lot like her little sister, we couldn’t help but do a double take. On vacation for her wedding anniversary with Jay-Z, Beyoncé donned a colourful Thakoon Addition Resort 2013 caftan overtop a dress while exploring the streets of Havana. With her hair tied up in a braided topknot, the singer looked spectacular while breaking slightly outside of her fashion comfort zone.
Printed mini-dresses are typically Solange’s forte. Last summer she wore a chic Stella McCartney frock with strappy sandals to an event celebrating Michael Kalish’s artwork in New York. After seeing Beyoncé in Cuba this week, we couldn’t help but be reminded of this Solange style hit.
Which of the Knowles sisters’ looks do you like best? Vote in our poll!

Fall 2013 shoes: Our running gallery of the most covetable styles of the runway season
See our favourite shoes from Fall 2013 »
Forget diamonds, everybody knows that shoes are a girl’s best friend. As the Fall 2013 trends begin to emerge, so too do the must-have heels, boots and flats of the season. This round of fashion week has brought with it oodles of new shoe trends to look out for. From strappy suede booties to architectural high heels, the New York, London, Milan and soon-to-be Paris runways are filled with quirky designs that can certainly be the finishing touch on any outfit.
So far, many designers are reinventing old classics and updating them with modern details. Case in point: high-heeled loafers, seen at Mulberry, Rag & Bone and Moschino, which gave a new feminine twist to menswear’s most classic shoe by using fresh yellows, and unexpected patterns. Speaking of unexpected combinations, one of the most unusual footwear trends is the emerging sandal-boot. Open-toe booties are nothing new, but this time designers such as Prada have created a boot customized with cutouts around the sides and front of the shoe.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: We spot Victoria Beckham, Jenna Lyons and the Courtin-Clarins girls
Check out the street style photos from New York Fashion Week!»
Next up in our street style coverage of New York Fashion Week, our resident street style photographer Stefania Yarhi has captured more of the fashion flock from outside the shows on Sunday. Yarhi’s savvy camera skills caught the likes of Victoria Beckham (who chatted with us back in August), outside after her Spring 2013 show who looked as chic as ever in all black shorts, T-shirt (likely of her own design) and sunglasses. Also snapped: the enviously impeccable Courtin-Clarins girls looking as chic as ever with Claire wearing a black and burgundy long-sleeved dress, Prisca in a white dress, Virginie in a black shirt, and long blue and white striped skirt, and Jenna in a long sleeved printed dress on the streets of New York. J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons looked quite serious while taking a call, wearing a slick grey blazer and white pants. Model Erin Wasson who seemed to be in a hurry, was snapped in a grey button up and holding a furry (real or fake?) purse.

Nail Corner: All 5 vibrant Thakoon for Nars nail polish colours in one manicure!
Sometimes the colours in a nail polish collection are so perfect together that it’s hard to pick just one to use in a manicure. (A #firstworldproblem that’s also common when shopping for clothes—it’s much more satisfying to buy the whole look, not one standalone item!) While each shade from the upcoming Thakoon for Nars nail collaboration (available May 1) stands out on its own, together they encapsulate the vibrancy of Thakoon’s Spring 2012 collection. They also share a source of inspiration: Indian spice markets influenced the highly saturated colours, which range from cyan blue to orchid purple. As for Nail Corner’s inspiration, this design was all about bringing Thakoon’s cowboy-meets-Bollywood prints to life.
