With the end of fashion week in Toronto marking the close of Spring 2014 show season, it’s time we looked back at all the trends that emerged. As much as the runway sets the pace for what’s to come for the top Spring 2014 trends, the streets play a major role as show-going trendsetters give us the relatable breakdown of how to wear what’s hot next season. Prints take two spots on our top Spring 2014 trends list through those with a painterly quality and those influenced by international cultures. At Hérmes, Rousseau-inspired water lily florals were printed on luxurious fabrics while at Diane Von Furstenberg, dresses and skirts depicting an African wilderness roared. And look at it you will be because these will be the bottoms of choice for the stylish set come spring. In fact, Viktor & Rolf put most of their schoolgirl shirts and tunics over skorts.

Legs also have the spotlight in peekaboo slits (even horizontal ones at Stella McCartney), sheer paneling or lace (worn with shorts underneath).

Proclamations that we have seen on the runways this week include Life or Love written up the back of sneakers at Céline, slogans against overfishing at Kenzo, and an alphabet jacquard at Giambattista Valli. Fine art has also make its way onto fabrics with Brassai-inspired graffiti and brushstrokes at Céline, mosaic-like faces at Givenchy and Braque doves at Andrew Gn.

Beyonce Mrs Carter World Tour Ralph Russo Bodysuit

Glamour was present at Beyoncé’s Belgrade show, where pearls, pearls, and more pearls garnished a custom-made Ralph & Russo bodysuit. The “Halo” songstress looked positively angelic as she opened the world tour in the all-white number. The ribbed one-piece, which featured military shoulders and layers of beads and sequins, looked both elegant and bold with it’s sharp tailoring.

Beyonce Mrs Carter World Tour Givenchy Bodysuit

Beyoncé’s custom-made long sleeved Givenchy bodysuit and cat-eared cap had her looking ready for world domination. The daring getup was one of her edgier stage ensembles with its abundance of black sequins. It wasn’t easy to pull our eyes away from the dancing diva’s nails, which were painted in a pastel shade of blue in honour of her baby girl Blue Ivy.

Beyonce Mrs Carter World Tour Kenzo Bodysuit

Beyoncé enlisted Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Kenzo for her most colourful one-piece ensemble, which she unveiled at her Paris show. The duo chose a playful turquoise and coral red print from their Spring ’13 line to incorporate into the pin-up style bodysuit. The look, which featured a bustier and flared shorts, is perhaps the most wearable costume for us regular folk, but fabulous nonetheless.

Beyonce Mrs Carter World Tour David Koma Bodysuit

Beyoncé called upon another fashionable friend, London-based designer David Koma, for this black and gold bodysuit. A leather collar, cuffs and full leather skirt add edge to the more feminine leotard. Golden French Horn prints running down the front of the piece pay homage to the reoccurring Marie Antoinette theme in the tour’s widely praised video art. The covetable black leather booties were custom designed by Stuart Weitzman, who was responsible for all of Queen Bey’s shoes on the tour.

Beyoncé’s Pucci leopard-print fringed bodysuit stole hearts at her Houston show. The look was one of five designed by Peter Dundas for the Mrs. Carter tour. “She is one of the sweetest stars to work with. She knows what she wants and what will work for her…” Dundas told Vogue. And work it does. Beyoncé dazzles in the playful neon number, which has us thinking about bright animal print in a whole new way.

Beyoncé’s “The Mrs. Carter Show” world tour has reached its halfway point, and with this milestone we’re looking back on some of the megastar’s most major fashion moments from her first 61 performances (44 to go!). As expected, the singer’s tour fashions have garnered just about as much attention as her performances have. A slew of privileged designers saw that the Beyoncé was outfitted in headline-worthy ensembles, and boy did they succeed. A particular golden armour-like one-piece by The Blonds had jaws dropping, as did a sexy midnight blue catsuit by Vrettos Vrettakos.

Fashion month may have finally wrapped, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to forget about the trends that emerged for Fall 2013 on the many runways of New York, London, Milan, Paris and Toronto—In fact, it’s time for them to take front and centre. While shoppers everywhere are snapping up the best of the selling floor’s offerings for spring and summer, designers, buyers and editors alike are busy prepping ahead. And since we know y’all like to keep ahead of the curve, we’ve sorted through hundreds of photos and selected 10 of the top Fall 2013 trends so that you can mentally prep (and save) too!

Next season, it’s all about fur, which landed in both faux and real on runways including Marni, JW Anderson, and most strikingly at Fendi, where it was combined in a dizzying multitude of punky ways. The 1990s were back for another resurgence, continuing Spring 2013’s grunge trend at Saint Laurent in Paris and Chloé Comme Parris right here at home. On the street, the look was easily created by many fashion week attendees who layered plaids on waists, under jackets and even on tights. Farewell Tangerine Tango! Emerald has officially been announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2013. In a press release published this morning, Pantone said of their new favourite hue:

“Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.”

Today’s set of street style photos from Paris is equivalent to the fashion (and Twihard) jackpot. With major shows like Carven, Balenciaga, and Balmain going down, you know a fashionable crowd is going to show up and thankfully, our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi, was there to capture it all and do a little bit of stalking.

Stalking who? Oh you know, just Kristen Stewart, the most most buzzed about actress du jour (du year?). As the face of Balenciaga’s Florabotanica fragrance, it’s only natural that she sat front row in a yellow quilted leather jacket and floral printed pants accessorized with a petite smile (we repeat: petite).

The street style in and around the last two days of New York Fashion Week’s Spring 2013 shows were a frenzy of varsity jackets (Opening Ceremony), motorcycle jackets (Acne) see-through bags (from Kenzo to Claire’s) and Asian-inspired printed silks (Proenza Schouler, obv) jealousy-inducing heels (and even a few flats) as shot by our street style photographer Stefania Yarhi. Amidst the madness, Bill Cunningham was playing with some adorable bulldogs. You better bet we caught that too.

Thanks to some stylish ladies, the usually-worn-by-the-boys headgear is no longer relegated to bad hair days: the embellished baseball cap is making a comeback.  Style stars like Gwen Stefani and Rihanna have been spotted about town donning some covet-worthy caps—Stefani paired a bright red cap with her gauzy beach ensemble, and Rihanna got the blogsphere abuzz when she donned a spiked Peace, Love and Understanding cap complete with tartan tail. From studs and spikes to prints and pops of colour, we’ve got ten caps that will upgrade your off-duty look!
